The brilliant 2160×1620 resolution Retina display (at 264 PPI) features an oleophobic coating that resists fingerprints, and support for the 1st generation Apple Pencil. The display delivers 500 nits of brightness. The 8th generation iPad features the A12 Bionic chipset with Neural Engine support for artificial intelligence and AR capabilities. It also features Touch ID, stereo speakers, and dual microphones.

Two cameras are responsible for photos and videos – the rear 8-megapixel camera with f/2.4 aperture, five-element lens, BSI sensor, and hybrid IR filter. It supports Live Photo, Panorama (up to 43 MP), HDR, automatic image stabilization, exposure control, continuous shooting, and self-timer. The front camera is a 1.2 MP FaceTime HD camera. Both cameras allow video recording in 720p quality, while the rear camera can create recordings in a slightly higher resolution – 1080p at 30 frames per second.
